Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger suffered an injury during the team's final regular season game versus the Cleveland Browns.

Late in the first half, Roethlisberger appeared to have suffered a  concussion after getting hammered by Browns defenders Willie McGinest and D'Quell Jackson. Roethlisberger lay on the turf for several minutes and was eventually carried off the field on a stretcher.

With the Steelers having wrapped up a AFC North division title, the team had relatively little to play for but pride. Roethlisberger has been banged up throughout the season, in part because of the inability of the Steelers' offensive line to protect him.

The team has not announced if Roethlisberger will miss any playoff action. If he does, backup Byron Leftwich will take over as quarterback.

UPDATE: After the game, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said that early tests on Roethlisberger's concussion are encouraging and he suggested that Big Ben might return for Pittsburgh's first playoff game in two weeks.

Now the Steelers might pay for failing to get the protection for Ben that a quarterback of his status should get.  Tomlin is full of when he says that the team has ample talent to achieve success in portecting Ben.

All year Ben has taken the heat and the shots that led to today's injuries.  Tomlin needs to get off his hogh horse and get Colbert to sign some good lineman or draft with Ben's health in mind.

How foolish to jeopardize a chance at the Super Bowl so Tomlin can prove who he is and how far his approach will take this team

Good Health BEN
