Vice-president elect Joe Biden appeared to have been booed by the crowd while attending this weekend's Philadelphia Eagles-New York Giants game. Biden, who hails from nearby Scranton, was booed when his image appeared on the stadium's big video screen.

The catcalls mean that both Vice-presidential candidates in this year's election have been booed by Philadelphia sports fans. Last month, Republican VP candidate Sarah Palin was booed lustily by Philadelphia Flyers fans as she took part in a pre-game ceremony to honor hockey moms.

While CNN was quick to pounce on the incident, others have suggested that the story is much ado about nothing. Commenters to the CNN story have suggested alternate theories: one is that fans were not booing Biden, but Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie, who also appeared in the shot on the big screen alongside Biden. Others suggest that fans were actually booing a blown call on the field instead of Biden's appearance on the big screen. Fans may have been upset at the fact that NY Giants quarterback Eli Manning wasn't penalized for intentional grounding.

Fans might also have been upset about the game in general. The Giants beat the Eagles by the score of 36-31.
