More then 900 bicyclists took to the streets in order to participate in the 2008 Albuquerque Century Bike Tour that took place this past weekend on Saturday June 7, 2008.

The event offered 4 courses: 25, 50, 65 and 100 miles in order to challenge riders of all levels. Riders were able to enjoy scenic Albuquerque while enjoying the ride. There were several food and rest stops along the courses, offering much needed refreshment and yes, entertainment for the riders.

The Albuquerque Century Bike Tour is the largest urban cycling event in the state of New Mexico. Besides giving participants a great workout and wonderful scenery, the event also calls attention to an emphasis on heart health, fitness and bicycling as an alternative form of transportation.

The event was sponsored by Heart Hospital of New Mexico, New Mexico Sports and Wellness and Sports Outdoor.

For information about registering to participate next year, be sure to check out the Albuquerque Century website.
