Former President Bill Clinton called Tiger Woods to show his support and understanding of the fallen golf icon's extramarital affairs according to reports from Golf Digest and PEOPLE. Golf Digest originally reported that President Barack Obama, who appeared with Woods on the cover of the magazine, called Woods to offer his support but this conjecture was dismissed by the White House as false.

Apparently Woods called Clinton for reasons unrelated to his extramarital scandal but Clinton, who knows a thing or two about dealing with high profile affair cases, offered support and encouragement.

Clinton's spokesperson, Matt McKenna, confirmed the call in a statement to PEOPLE saying, "President Clinton spoke with Tiger and wished him well,"
