BL Cool J. No. 5, Joe Flacco's New "Nickname" is a Brand Slam

On Friday September 10, 2010 Joe Flacco the starting quarterback of the Baltimore Ravens was given a new signature "Nickname" and "Logo" by the NBHHCM (National Basketball & Hip-Hop Culture Month) Foundation and Dunkadelic Sports Marketing.

BL Cool J. No. 5 is the perfect "Nickname" for the quarterback and Baltimore football fans. BL Cool J. No.5 is an acronym that means "B-More Loves Cool Joe No. 5." There is also a second acronym that means "Be Like Cool Joe No. 5"

The new "Nickname" is a brand slam for the City of Baltimore, the Ravens, and its fans. Derrick E. Vaughan the creator of the  "Nickname" says, "sports and the hip-hop culture are one in the same", "basketball and hip-hop have been the driving force of the culture since the early 1980's, but it has grown to incorporate all of sports". Vaughan continues "When the Joe "Nickname" came about all the moons were lined up together and from that we have a star quarterback that has evolved into a future pop culture icon". 

Only time will tell if the "Nickname" will stick but from a branding standpoint Joe QB No. 5  will be BL Cool J. No. 5 to the many fans of pro football in a town that is craving for a star on and off the field.
