Lamichael James, Rob Beard and Jeremiah Masoli Suspended By Team Coach After Court Appearances

Today is a black day for the University of Oregon football team. Three of its players have been suspended for different portions of the 2010 season after pleading guilty to a series of criminal charges.

LaMichael James

Running back LaMichael James pleaded guilty to one count of physical harassment against former girlfriend in a domestic violence case. James was sentenced to 10 days in jail. He faces 24 months of probation and will also have to carry out community service. The running back had to issue a letter of apology to the victim.

Rob Beard

Kicker Rob Beard pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor harassment for his involvement in a street fight on January 24. Beard was seriously injured in the fight. He was given one year probation and 100 hours of community service.

LaMichael James and Rob Beard have been suspended for one game each. They will miss the first game of the 2010 season against New Mexico.

Jeremiah Masoli And Garrett Embry

Jeremiah Masoli and Garrett Embry both pleaded guilty to charges of second-degree burglary after stealing two laptops and a guitar from an on-campus fraternity house in January.

Masoli was suspended for the entire 2010 season. It is not clear if Embry is going to be suspended as well.
