The long playoff wait is finally over for the Columbus Blue Jackets and the team’s fans.
The Jackets wrapped up their first National Hockey League playoff spot Wednesday night when they beat the Chicago Blackhawks 4-3 in a shootout in Chicago. It will be the club’s first post-season appearance since entering the NHL in 2000.
The Blue Jackets only needed a tie in regulation play to clinch the playoff spot and got it thanks to a goal by team captain and veteran star Rick Nash with 5:30 remaining in the third period. Fedor Tyutin’s goal won the game in the shootout.
The playoffs begin April 15 with Columbus to play its first two games on the road against an opponent to be determined after the regular season ends this weekend.

Yes, finally they make it into the playoffs. Too bad they might be facing the might Vancouver Canucks! jk.
They have a good/solid core there. Should be able to get a good run of playoffs going if Mason doesn't turn out to be the next Jim Carey.
