BOXING BC - Wayne Sponagle makes it Seven for Prince George
PRINCE GEORGE SPORTS HALL OF FAME- BOXING: By Brian W. Zelley
When it comes to recognizing folks involved in Boxing, the Prince George Sports Hall of Fame leads the way in British Columbia. Recently, they added the seventh member to the now group of seven.
Boxing coach WAYNE SPONAGLE of the Spruce Capital Warriors Boxing Club in Prince George joins Allan & Boyd Bayne, Harold & Laurie Mann, Jack Meda, and Sid McKnight as the latest inductee into the Sports Hall of Fame for Boxing.
Compared to other locations, based on size and population, Prince George is a great plus for the sport of boxing. The question that must be asked for other BC locations is when are they stepping up to the plate for the many past and current dedicated folks of the sport of BOXING.
The seven hall of fame inductees in Prince George are also now equal to the seven that are in the BC Sports Hall of Fame. Of the seven in the BC Hall, Harold Mann is the double winner in British Columbia. However, many worthy boxers and/or builders have been left on the outside looking-in when past induction have taken place in the Provincial Hall.
Many folks, are aware of some of the names of those that should be recognized, but even a nomination to the BC Sports Hall of Fame family remains an hidden mystery, WHY?
