The City of Surrey has promised to fly the flag of the boxing kangaroo if the Australian Olympic Team is forced remove it by the IOC (International Olympic Committee)  from Athlete's Village

Surrey Mayor Diane Watts quoted below from a media release.

“We’re ready to welcome the world and we’d be honoured to recognize the Australian athletes who have come all this way to join us,” Watts said in the news release. “I’m also going to ask mayors in other cities across the region to join us in flying the Australian team’s flag for a day and celebrate our friends from down under."

Not to be undone by his neighbor, Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson jumped into the boxing kangaroo flag flap, according to the Vancouver Sun

"Mayor Gregor Robertson said Friday he wants the banner to continue to fly in Vancouver, and if the Aussies have to take it down at the athletes' village, he pledged to find somewhere else for it."

The Australian Olympic team is flying its Olympic team flag, with a boxing kangaroo logo and the IOC says that breaks Olympic rules.

Vancouver Olympic CEO John Furlong says the IOC is looking into the fate of the boxing kangaroo
