Brandon Spikes Eye Gouge Video: Gators LB Accused of Gouging
Most of the time Brandon Spikes appears to be one of the best college linebackers in the country. During last night's game against Georgia, however, the Florida linebacker looked more like Moe from The Three Stooges. During the Florida-Georgia game, Brandon Stokes appeared to gouge the eyes of Georgia running back Washaun Ealey after making a tackle.
As any football player can tell you, things can get pretty nasty in a pileup, just ask anyone who has tried to recover a fumble. But even by those standards, the Brandon Spikes eye gouging looks pretty nasty.
Florida coach did his best to diffuse any controversy stemming from the Brandon Spikes eye gouge.
On his teleconference Sunday morning, Gators coach Urban Meyer said he hadn’t yet discussed the play with Spikes. “I’ll talk to him today, Meyer said. “He’s a very emotional player. If that’s the case, I’ll have a very serious talk with him.” That talk should end with Meyer suspending his best defender for Saturday's game against Vanderbilt
Brandon Spikes has yet to be disciplined for the eye gouge although it is possible he may face a suspension from the SEC.
Should Spikes be suspended. Check out the Brandon Stokes Eye Gouge video and decide for yourself.

Spikes is a big Karate Kid fan. The running back was talking smack throughout the game. All spikes did was reach in, squeeze the guys nose and yell, "HOOOONK!!" like Mr. Miagi. There was no eye gouging, only a honk...

Joel D. has to not care what Fla players do as long as Fla wins. Either that or he is blind as a bat.

Don J. must not have ever played football because everyone who has ever played the game knows that there is more that goes on in a pile than what you see in a wrestling ring.Punching, kicking, someone stepping on your hands, kicking your helmet or kneeing your helmet, stomach pinching (called skeetering and hurts like hell), clawing, biting (yep you can get bit in football), eye gouging, ankle twisting, and the list goes on and on...Only naive couch potatoes like yourself would ever believe that every football game played is 100% clean.

Joel D. - Yes I have played football and just because things like that may go on, it doesn't make it right. This is the same as any other penalty in Football. If it is seen, it is called and a penalty is given. If it goes unseen, no penalty is given. In this case, this was seen by the whole Nation watching the game, so there should be some kind of penalty. It's not like he was going for a fumble or anything. His whole intent was to harm another player intentionally. That's not acceptable, I don't care who you are. If you are saying that this goes on and it's okay to try and intentinally harm another player, then you are just as big a thug as Brandon Spikes, not to mention an idiot. There should be a suspension, or Urban Meyer and the SEC would basically be saying it's okay to try and gouge another players eyes since this is football...see how stupid it sounds?

Wow, Coach UM suspended him a whole 1/2 game for trying to blind someone!!! Plus isn't it when someone looks down and to the left they are typically lying?? Watch UM as he speaks about this, never looks at the camera when he says this isn't Spikes or Gators - he's looking down to the left!

How bizarre men think! To think it's normal to beat and stomp on someone as a game tactic. I thought there were rules against poor sportsmanship and cheating, but apparently not! I like a strategic game of football, but not with dirty stunts. Perhaps all players should be allowed to retaliate, then this way everyone can be blind, maimed and paralyzed or weld switchblades, so that football becomes extinct, due to the non-existence of healthy players. Of course, thugs could always then turn to animal sports, such as dog fighting - oops, they've already tried that with deadly results and no profits. Bottom line -- if this behavior keeps up, the NCAA and NFL rulebook should be re-written as flag football! Otherwise, just call it thug football.

This type of behavior in athletics is unacceptable, and that the officals are willing to look the other way is even worse. Spikes should have been removed from the game, and the team. To say that having him suspended from half the game is a joke...i forgot, he was also to say "sorry". Spikes isn't sorry that he did this, he is only sorry that it didn't serve the intent that he had intended. Spikes, his coaches, the school, and the NCAA are showing the world that there is no such thing as true sportsmenship, and that all that matters is winning at all cost...even if you have to cheat or maim to do it.
