Braylon Edwards Catch Video: Was Jets WR Robbed of a Touchdown?
Wide receiver Braylon Edwards had an impact in his first game with the New York Jets. Unfortunately, one of his biggest catches was called back thanks to a call by referee Alberto Riveron. Edwards made a sweet twirling catch near the goal line. He landed on the turf without being touched, and appeared to have put the ball over the goal line.
The refs on the field ruled the Braylon Edwards Catch a touchdown. Miami challenged the play, arguing that the ball did not cross the goal line prior to Edwards' knee hitting the ground.
Miami challenged, and Riveron explained after viewing the replay that the ball had not crossed the plane before Edwards' knee hit the ground. The ruling on the field, however, was overturned. The Braylon Edwards catch was not ruled a touchdown. Instead, the ball was spotted on the one-yard line.
Ultimately, the botched call didn't matter since New York Jets running back Thomas Jones scored a touchdown on the next play.
