Brasil x south Africa

David met Goliath this afternoon in the second semifinal of the Confederation Cup.  With FIFA rankings over 70 apart.  Brasil was the clear favourite.  This is not how this hard fought game developed.  South Africa more than held its own and threatened Brasil several times.

Defensively they were also able to contain the top scorer of Brasil Kaka who plays for AC Milan

With only 4 minutes left to go in a hard fought match, Brazil's Daniel Alves scored on a free kick from about 30 yards out.

For a while during the match it looked as if the underdog would tie the match and send the game into added time.  That was not to be.

Brazil will be facing the US in the final on Sunday June 28th in Johannesburg.

The game will be broadcast on all CBC Channels starting at 2pm Eastern Time.
