Brendan Morrison in Triple OT

Brendan Morrison, the Vancouver Canucks center, and reigning ironman the in the NHL is going to sit out Wednesday's game with a wrist injury. Morrison has played the last 542 consecutive games.

Watching Morrison play last night against the Los Angeles Kings it was obvious that something was up; now at least we know. With injuries to Luongo and Bieksa and now Morrison the Canucks are looking fragile again. A time for the team to solidify as they did after the injuries to Salo and Bieksa and for new talent to emerge.

Canucks forward Brendan Morrison will see his consecutive games streak of 542 end on Wednesday night when he sits out vs. the Anaheim Ducks.

Morrison injured his wrist in the pre-season and the injury continues to nag him, so he has been sent back to Vancouver for treatment.

His streak is currently the longest in the NHL. The all-time record is held by the Montreal Canadiens' Doug Jarvis with 964.

Too bad, quite a streak.  But better to sit out than do irreparable damage.
