OTR: Next Question with Brian Burke -DayWalk3r

The Toronto Star is reporting that Brian Burke will be the next president and general manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs. The team is believed to have offered Burke a six-year deal with an annual salary of approximately $3 million.

According to Star columnist Damien Cox, the much-rumored dea is about to become a reality.

The former Anaheim GM was forwarded a "term sheet" by the Leafs over the past 24 hours, which included acceptable clauses on the length of contract and compensation.

Burke's deal will include the rest of this season, then a five-year contract that kicks in next season. He made about $1.4 million managing the Ducks, and is expected to see his salary doubled in Toronto.

The Globe & Mail confirms that a deal is imminent as the two sides hammer out a few details.

Burke is also reportedly interested in bringing Dave Nonis, his assistant in Vancouver and Anaheim, along with him. Nonis is still employed by the Anaheim Ducks, but has a clause in his contract that says he can quit with only 48 hours notice.
