British Open Championship 2009 Begins Thursday at Turnberry

Golf's British Open Championship 2009 started early in the morning on Thursday, with players hitting the links at Turnberry in Scotland.

Golfers began swinging at the British Open Championship at 4am EST at the Ailsa Course in the hopes of winning 4.2 million British pounds (a whopping $7.6 million Canadian) with the winner taking home 750,000 pounds.

American phenom Tiger Woods is attending and will be up against defending champion Padraig Harrington. There are also three other previous champions; Tom Watson, Greg Norman and Nick Price.
