Brittney Griner In Hot Water After Punching Rival Player
Brittney Griner - The Issue Of Ethics Among Star Players
Baylor University basketball player Brittney Griner, 19, was ejected for punching Texas Tech player Jordan Barncastle in the face during the game on Wednesday. Griner and Barncastle got into a scuffle near the net, and Barncastle shoved Griner by her hand. In response, Grinber turned back and punched Barncastle in the face.
After her team's victory Wednesday, Baylor coach Kim Mulkey said, "There's no place for that in sports. I will deal with Brittney Griner, and it won't be discussed in the media."
However, Griner might face additional punishments for her actions on the court.
The question now remains - was Jordan Barncastle the only one hurt? Or, did Griner hurt herself by packing that punch on Barncastle? Is it a personality issue, or is it an issue of unrestricted ego? After all, Griner is clearly one of the best players in the country. In 2009, she was named nation's number one high school player. She was also selected to be on the 2009 McDonald's All-American Girls basketball team.
So, did Griner's numerous accolades lead to a lack of self-control and a notion that anything is allowed on the court?
