Hello MU.com readers. The brothaman is back with my latest installment of the Antron Brown Motorsportsunplugged.com blog. As you can see from the site’s main page, we’re heading off to Brainerd, Minn. this week for our annual visit to the great North. Brainerd is home to Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox; along with walleye, lakes, Zorba’s, really big mosquitoes, and the Zoo. We’ll get to that later.

We have just two races left, Brainerd and Indy, before the field is set for the Countdown to 1 six-race playoff that begins at Charlotte next month. Our Matco Tools dragster is running great and we need to build on that. We cannot slip up. If we have one poor race, we can enter the Countdown in fifth place. If we have two good races, we can be second going into the Countdown and then we’d only trail points-leader Del Worsham by 30 points, and that’s our goal. I’ve done well at Brainerd in the past on the bikes with four wins there, but our luck there and at Indy the past few years hasn’t been great. We’ve lost in Indy in the first round the last two years. We need to buck that trend and have some good luck at Brainerd in Indy in Top Fuel.

Brainerd is a really cool race. It’s a small town in central Minnesota. The temperatures will be in the low 70s, so we’ll be able to run really fast this weekend and that excites me. We got our first pole of the season at the last race in Seattle and qualifying in the top three is very important to success on race day. I have an appearance at Buffalo Wild Wings in Baxter from 6-7 p.m. on Thursday night. While I’m working for Full Throttle, our series sponsor, some of my teammate will be staying in Minneapolis to go to the Yankees/Twins game at Target Field. Lucky dogs! LOL I’d love to take batting practice or throw out a first pitch one day. That would be awesome. If any of you can make that happen, I'll hook you up with some race tickets.

The Zoo is the campground at Brainerd International Raceway and what makes the place famous in the drag racing world. It’s a big party all week long, and let me tell you, some of those people are just plain crazy. They make floats like it’s Mardi Gras and we have to keep this PG-13, so we can’t get into a lot of the shenanigans that goes on in the Zoo, but the people out there have a lot of fun. I’ll do my best to make one pass and say hello to the locals, but you won’t catch the Brothaman up late, that’s for sure.

With the cooling temperatures, it’s been in the low 80s here in Indy, we know fall is coming. The kids are back at school and my honey-do home projects are just about finished. I need to get my new Matco Tools tool box and my Matco Tools into the new garage and I’ll be all set. I have to get my RC boats tuned up because I’m going to a RC boat race in Mississippi next month and I need to come out strong.

Well, that’s about it. Check us out from Brainerd this weekend on ESPN2 and we shout at you again soon.

God bless,

Antron
