Bundesliga Friday Game Feature Hannover 96 vs FC St. Pauli 0-1
St. Pauli continues its success away from home by defeating Hannover 0:1
These two teams have only met twice in Bundesliga play before. Their last league game was in 2001.
Hannover started this Matchday in 2nd place with 13 points, while St. Pauli started in 9th with seven points.
During the first half Hannover controlled the game, but Hannover played with clever counters. This paid off for St. Pauli in the 6th minute when Marius Ebbers scored. Oczipa made an almost perfect pass into the 5 meter area, where Ebbers jumped into the air and was able to put a header into the net. 1:0 St. Pauli.
In the 80th minute St. Pauli was breaking through and presented a real challenge to up the score. Karim Haggui was the last defender and mowed down Lehmann. The referee showed no hesitation and showed Haggui the red card.
Hannover, which was already trailing now had the task to try to even the match with a man short.
It was not to be St. Pauli through a superb team effort and disciplined play was able to hang on to the lead. For the time being they have moved into 6th place in the Bundesliga.
