Mainz beats Munich and remains on top of the Bundesliga.  Stuttgart brings up rear.

Matchday 6 is now in the books.  Mainz has reinforced its Number 1 position by defeating FC Bayern Muenchen 2:1 in Munich.  The newly promoted club now leads the Bundesliga with 18 points.   Hoffenheim and Koeln parted in a tie yesterday moving Hoffenheim to the third spot.

The Bayern Munchen management is certainly concerned with Munich's slow start into the season.  Munich plays Basel next week in a Champions League group match.  Karl Heinz Rummenigge has put the blame squarely on the team and not the coach.  He made it clear that he expects more from the players, seven of which did so well, during Germany's quest for the World Cup.

Wolfsburg has squeezed a win out of Freiburg, moving themselves just ahead of Freiburg on the table with 9 points.

Stuttgart with another loss, now brings up the rear of the Bundesliga.  The standings with 20% of games played this season is quite interesting.  European Power House Bayern Munich finds itself in 9th place a full 10 points behind the league leader.  This could be an interesting year in the Bundesliga.
