The 14th Matchday in the top German Soccer League, The Bundesliga, was contested starting on Friday and completed with three games today.  With only 3 games to go to the Bayern Muenchen has finally made it into the top 6.  They secured fourth place by defeating Hanover 96 3-0.  Hamburg slipped into fifth place, managing only a tie.

Leverkusen maintained its league supremacy and with a one game lead may well emerge as the fall champion.

At the bottom of the league, fighting relegation, are Stuttgart, Bochum and Hertha BSC Berlin.  All three teams have a long history of successful seasons.  Stuttgart was the league champion just three years ago.  While Bochum and Stuttgart maintain contact at the bottom and the middle of  league table, the situation for Mainz is becoming critical.  They are at the bottom of the league with 5 points.
