Canada Cup FITA tournament comes to Metro Vancouver today
Burnaby Archers are hosting the May 22-24, 2010 FITA Canada Cup this long weekend bringing some of Canada and USA's finest target archers to compete for the coveted Canada Cup. Did you know one of Burnaby Archers Internationally renowned archery coach Chuck Land also provided archery lessons to Hollywood celebrities such as Jessica Beil and other celebs for popular movies such as Jessica Beil's archery role in the 2004 movie franchise Blade Trinity?
On the heels of the popular movie Robin Hood franchise, comes a form of archery from ancient time immemorial. For those interested or curious about the sport of archery, come witness what most only see in movies and wonder how someone is a bow and arrow can shoot at distances of 90 meters and place an arrow in a spot no larger than an apple.
The Canada cup is sanctioned by both the FCA (Federation of Canadian Archers) as the Canadian governing body and FITA (Federation International Target Archery) as the international governing body (established in 1931).
The FITA Canada Cup will consist of a series or rounds, with archers shooting at distances of 90 meters, 70 meters, 50 meters and 30 meters.
The Canada Cup is free and open to all spectators, tournament times are 11:00 am to finish.
So bring a lawn chair and a lunch and enjoy one of the most ancient sports in the world. You may get a first hand look at up and coming Olympians.
