Canada's Sports Hall of Fame's home at Exhibition Place was burnt down years ago and our sporting history has sat in storage ever since. However, a $50 million bid by Calgary to create a new hall for Canadian sports won the honour of building a 40,000 square foot area for the project.

The best possible news for those who care about sport in this country has arrived with the selection of Canada Olympic Park, in Calgary, as the permanent home to Canada's Sports Hall of Fame.

So compelling was the bid and so widespread and enthusiastic was the support from corporations, the sports community and the three levels of government that the choice was a slam-dunk for the hall's relocation committee, chaired by Keith Pelley.

Jason Sanders, I like this story. It's good stuff.

Anything to boost the fortunes of Canada's amateur athletes.

Totally agree, we need to support them way more than we're doing now. Hopefully this brings them into the public eye a little more.

This huge flag proudly flies beside Highway 105 on the north shore of Fredericton, NB. This shot was taken in the summer of 2008 as the Davis family (Pittsburgh, PA) visited Grammie & Grampie Reed (Keswick Ridge, NB).

This was taken at the City Hall in Toronto, Ontario.
Taking picture of a flapping flag can be challenging so I took this with "burst" mode with my digital camera and selected the picture that shows the flag in action.

Took this photo this summer while touring the Canadian Rockies. Visited Calgary and the Canadian Olympic Park in my travels. I hope to return someday to view the new Sports Hall of Fame. Good story, Jason!

August 2008 soccer game between the Vancouver Whitecaps and the Prince George Allstars . Awesome soccer by the Whitecaps. I used to have season tickets back in the eighties, so I couldn't pass up this chance to see them again. Of course all the players have changed but the soccer was still great.

This was taken in Sturgeon Falls, Ontario. At the water, down a side street is a huge Canadian flag. I took several photos just trying to catch it furled out. But I really wanted to show how huge it is. So I stood underneath and managed to get this photo.

I'm currently living in Nashville, TN but was raised in Brampton, Ontario.

There is a beautiful and peaceful pride that I see in the Canadian flag. This photo was taken in downtown Saint John, New Brunswick.

This canadian flag is just a block from my house, it stands outside a Dow Chemical building. It was twilight, my favorite time of the day and the flag just looked amazing in the sunset.

I saw this beautiful leaf and decided with a little editing it would make a great Canadian flag.

This was taken at the Brickyard 400 just outside the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Speedway, IN, a small independent town within the city limits of Indianapolis. Many people park and/or camp in the Coca Cola lot near the Speedway. This is about 1 mile from my house. It was taken at the 2008 Brickyard.
