This tourney is only held once very 2 years and involves both male and female teams as well as a wide variety of age groups. A big EVENT for a big crown!

The Redwood Cup, symbolic of Canada's national street hockey championship, is coming home or at least close to it.

Hockey Night in Canada's is bringing the national Play On! Four-on-Four Street Hockey tournament to Windsor for the first time as part of its Hockey Day in Canada coverage Feb. 21.

Play On! founder Scott Hill, who still oversees the program, named the 63-pound trophy after Kingsville's Redwood Road where he grew up.

"(Play On!) wanted to hold the tournament at this time of year and we looked around before settling on Windsor," said Joel Darling, director of production for CBC Sports.

I hope that when they do crown a champion, the awards ceremony will be interrupted by someone shouting "Car!" and everyone moves off the road.

This is a photo from our annual Green Cup street hockey tournament at Lakeland College in Vermilion, Alberta, Canada. Our tennis courts are used for the tournament that goes on into the evening--but we have lights! It's been sunny. It's snowed. That's early April in Alberta.
