Captain Lou Albano Dies at 76: Video & Pics of WWF Legend
Legendary pro wrestling manager Captain Lou Albano died at age 76. Albana had been staying at a hospice in Florida prior to his death. The cause of Lou Albano's death has yet to be released.
During the 80s, Captain Lou Albano, with his bushy beard wrapped in rubber bands, became one of wrestling's most recognizable faces. A pro wrestler who fought as part of a tag team known as the Sicilians, Albano parlayed his boisterous personality into a career as a wrestling manager.
Albano guided more than 15 tag teams including Mr. Fuji and Mr. Saito, The Valiant Brothers, Wild Samoans, The Moondogs, and The British Bulldogs. In 1996, Captain Lou Albano was inducted into the Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame.
He also gained fame after starring in several videos by 80s pop star Cyndi Lauper.
In 1989, Lou Albano played Mario in the The Super Mario Bros. Super Show, a live-action children's show based on the popular Nintendo video game.
In later years, Albano struggled with his weight and his overall health. In 2005, Albano suffered a heart attack.

I remember seeing him and other wrestlers of WWF during its golden age of the 1980's. It was great and entertaining. He will be missed.
