Country music star Carrie Underwood is reportedly dating Ottawa Senators center Mike Fisher.

Rumors began to fly after the American Idol star was spotted at a recent Senators game.

Carrie watched the game from the VIP box with Fisher’s family, including his younger brother Bud. She was shown on the big Jumbotron screen’s “Hug Cam” throughout the game as she hugged the two people sitting next to her.

The couple met after Fisher visited Underwood backstage during her March concert at Ottawa's Scotiabank Place. They've been an item ever since.

The romance is another in a series of high-profile romances between hockey players and celebrities. Los Angeles Kings forward Jarret Stoll is engaged to model Rachel Hunter. Calgary Flames defenceman Dion Phaneuf is dating actress Elisha Cuthbert, who used to date NHL pest Sean Avery.

Avery infamously made a sloppy remark about Phaneuf and Cuthbert that got him suspended from the NHL and waived from the Dallas Stars. As for Avery's romantic travails, he recently broke up with Kelly Klein, the ex-wife of designer Calvin Klein.

The hockey player and celebrity is a pretty recent trend. You didn't hear too many of these a few years ago.
