Chelsea ease pressure on Avram Grant with 4-0 win

Chelsea last night eased the pressure on beleaguered manager Avram Grant and ended one of the most stressful weeks in their recent history with a 4-0 Carling Cup win at Hull City.

Potential embarrassment was avoided as Chelsea clinched their first victory in five matches and showed a glimpse of the new style of football which has been promised by Grant. Scott Sinclair put Chelsea ahead before the third-round tie was sealed by Steve Sidwell and two goals from Salomon Kalou.

The name Jose Mourinho was still sung at the KC Stadium, but Grant had good reason to be pleased with his players following the 2-0 defeat against Manchester United on Sunday.
