Chinese Making U.S. Olympic Team Uniforms

Reuters reports today that Chinese tailors are working overtime to produce more than 1,800 Ralph Lauren-designed uniforms for members of the U.S. Olympic Team in time for next month’s opening ceremonies in Beijing. After watching Reuters’ video report (below right) on the matter, I was left wondering why American tailors were not given the opportunity to craft the uniforms. For answers, I e-mailed the U.S. Olympic Committee Public Affairs staff to find out why American tailors weren’t used.

It is the same for the Canadian Olympic uniforms which were designed by Canadian designers and made in China. The reason it is cheaper to produce them in China with the low labour cost. As a matter of fact, many well known designers fashion are all made in China.
