Chris Henry, the Cincinnati Bengals football player is dead after a fall from a pick-up truck yesterday during a fight with his fiancée Loleini Tonga

It was first reported that he had died, then that he was not dead, but on life support, but now it has been confirmed that he died at 6:36am ET Thursday December 17th.

"Chris Henry died as a result of his injuries sustained during this incident," a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police news release said. "Department detectives continue to work diligently on this active investigation."

Chris Henry and Loleini Tonga were fighting when she drove off in a pick-up truck and he jumped in the back. He came out of the back of the vehicle about half a mile away from their house. The couple were planning their wedding for March.

According to Loleini Tonga's MySpace page, on which she calls herself Mrs. C Henry, she speaks about getting things together for their wedding and putting the deposit down on their rings. Photos of Chris Henry and Loleini Tonga.

Loleini Tonga is said to be devastated by the news of Chris Henry's death.

Chris Henry played for the Cincinnati Bengals for five seasons but was currently on the injured list due to a dislocated forearm.

An article on the Bengals Web site called Henry "one of the best comeback stories in the NFL" before being injured, saying he had rebuilt "his life and career in a three-year climb from a series of off-field problems."

There is no word yet on memorial services or funeral details

Teammate Chad Ochocinco expressed his prayers for Chris Henry on his twitter page.
