City of Orlando NBHHCM 2K11 Proclamation Dedicated to Shaq
June 2, 2011 NBHHCM (National Basketball & Hip-Hop Culture Month) 2K11 started yesterday and the first-player to introduce the NBA to the hip-hop culture retires.
Shaquille O'Neal the 7 ft., 300 pound, rapping, and break dancing man-child was the first pick of the 1992 NBA draft. He was named the 1993 NBA Rookie-of-the-Year, and voted the starting center at the 1993 All-Star Game.
Shaq played 19-years in the NBA won 4 NBA Championships, an MVP Award, scored over 28,000 points., and had more nicknames than any other player of his generation.
The NBHHCM Foundation will be dedicating its City of Orlando NBHHCM 2K11 Proclamation to Shaquille O'Neal for his life-long contribution to the hoops and hip-hop culture that is known today as The "Dunkadelic-Era" In America.
NBHHCM Foundation founder Derrick E. Vaughan says, "Before Allen Iverson or Kevin Garnett there was Shaq, he rapped on Arsenio Hall, he rapped with Notorious B.I.G., he was bigger than life in some ways. When we celebrate NBHHCM during the month of June each year there will always be a special place for Shaq. I wish him well in his retirement, and he can forever call NBHHCM his cultural home because he's one of the reasons why we have the observance of National Basketball & Hip-Hop Culture Month. The NBHHCM Foundation is honored to dedicate its City of Orlando NBHHCM 2K11 Proclamation to Shaq."
The perfect story for Shaq the hoops and hip-hop culture icon is written. Be the first star player to bring urban culture of hip-hop to a game that is connected to it like brother and sister. Play 19-years and before its over talk about your relationship with one of hip-hop's biggest idols (Notorious B.I.G.). Then when its all said and done after all the Championships, different uniforms, sound-bits, and dunks. Retire from the game on the first day of its National observance. Shaq you are indeed what NBBHCM is all about. Be well, be healthy, and more importantly continue to be Shaq.
Shaq leaves the game 5-days before the NBA turns 65. The NBA was founded on June 6, 1946 in New York City. June 6, 2011 will mark the 65th Anniversary date of the NBA being founded.
Since 2009 June has been proclaimed and observed as NBHHCM (National Basketball & Hip-Hop Culture Month).
