Clare Curran Was Ejected From the New Zealand Parliament For Wearing A Rugby Jersey. Here is the Clare Curran Video

It's no secret that New Zealanders love rugby. One New Zealand member of  parliament may like rugby a little too much.

On June 7, 2011, Labour MP Clare Curran was asked to leave a parliamentary session for wearing the rugby jersey of her favorite team. Curran wore a blue and yellow Otago Highlanders shirt in the chamber to protest the team's decision to change its colors to lime green.

Speaker Lockwood Smith didn't care for the protest, telling Curran that 'this house has certain dress standards" and that she must change into proper business wear if she wanted to return.

Clare Curran wasn't impressed and accused Smith of "overreacting" and went on to say that she was just representing the people in her riding. ""There's a lot of feeling in Dunedin about the changing of the brand," she said.

The entire awkward exchange was caught on video.
