During Sunday's Colorado Rockies game, second baseman Clint Barmes appeared to have made one of the most spectacular catches of the season. Now some are questioning whether the Clint Barmes catch was indeed a catch.

During the Rockies game against the St. Louis Cardinals, Barmes appeared to make an athletic grab that turned and convert it into a game-ending double play. Photos posted on the Denver Post website suggest that Barmes may not have had control of the ball. The Clint Barmes catch photo shows the ball popping out of his glove as he hits the turf. Another photo shows the ball on the ground.

So did Clint Barmes make the catch? Colorado Rockies players aren't saying anything.

"Only me and Barmes know the truth. It's the same as (Matt) Holliday touching home plate," outfielder Ryan Spilborghs said Monday of the controversial slide that clinched the Rockies' 2007 playoff berth.

The Clint Barmes catch could have big consequences. The Rockies are currently in a fight for the NL Wild Card spot. They currently hold a two game lead over the Atlanta Braves. Sunday's result could prove be the difference between the Rockies making the playoffs or not.
