Colts and Saints Will Meet at Super Bowl XLIV on Feb. 7th 2010
The Indianapolis Colts will clash with the New Orleans Saints at Super Bowl XLIV to decide the 09/10 NFL champion. The game will be played at 6:30 EST in Sun Life Stadium at Florida.
Both teams reached the Super Bowl Sunday after grueling matches. The Colts beat the New York Jets 30-17 after trailing at halftime. Indianapolis was led by MVP quarterback Peyton Manning, who threw for 377 yards and 3 touchdowns.
"We talked about being patient against these guys," Manning said. "We knew it would be a four-quarter game." This will be the Colts' 4th Super Bowl, and second in the last four years.
The New Orleans Saints are heading to their very first Super Bowl after a 31-28 overtime win over Brett Favre and the Minnesota Vikings. The Saints punched their ticket to the Super Bowl with a 40-yard field goal by 23-year-old kicker Garrett Hartley almost 5 minutes into overtime.
Colts vs. Saints at Super Bowl XLIV
Super Bowl XLIV has numerous involving subplots, whether it’s future Hall of Fame quarterback Manning searching for his second Super Bowl title or the feel good Saints giving hope to New Orleans’ residents still recovering from Hurricane Katrina four years ago.
“The city is on its way to recovery and in a lot of ways it’s come back better than ever. We've used the strength and resiliency of our fans to go out and play every Sunday and play with the confidence that we can do it, that we can achieve everything we've set out to achieve," New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees said.
This is the first time since 1993 that the No. 1 seeds from each conference faced off at the Super Bowl. The last time the two teams met was in 2007, when the Colts came away with a 41-10 win. The opening NFL betting odds have the Colts -3½ points (-113 odds) at home against the Saints.
