Craig Luebben, rock climber, instructor, writer, inventor, and father, was killed in a mountaineering accident on Mount Torment in Washington State.

With his background in mechanical engineering, Craig Luebben is known for inventing the Big Bro, which is used for protecting off-width cracks; Craig Leubben invented the Big Bro as his senior honors theses at Colorado State University.

Craig Luebben was killed by a naturally-occurring icefall; his climbing partner, Willie Benegas, was also injured in the accident.

Popular and likeable within our cozy climbing and mountaineering community, Luebben
contributed much to climbers both locally and worldwide. He was an author, photographer, inventor, guide, world traveler, as well as being a husband and father.
Luebben leaves behind his wife Silvia and young daughter Giula Maria.

Sad story, but you gotta wonder, why climb a mountain named "Mount Torment"!  As an aside, while I had not heard of Craig Luebben as a professional climber, I had heard of Willie Benegas as a professional climber.
