Zoltan Black reporting from the World Baseball Classic... ...   With cries of Patria o Muerte the Cuban baseball revolution continued.

A classy well collected Cuban National team lead from gate to wire in today’s World Baseball Classic first round game defeating an absolutely victimized South Africa squad. Lead by 2 Home-Runs from the golden bat of Frederich Cepeda the Cuban’s tallied six total Home-Runs, with all nine batters reaching base before the seventh inning.

Cuban pitching was also stellar... ...Veteran staring pitcher Norge Vera sailed through the first four innings before allowing two hits in the fifth....Vera IP 6.0 H 2 R 0 E 0 BB 1 HR 0 ERA 0.00

Stop the presses.....

Son of Fidel Castro, Antonio Castro made an on-field appearance during the sixth inning following a collision between two Cuban players in shallow left-field. Tony is the Cuban teams medic.

There wasn’t a whole lot for the South African team to be proud of...

other then avoiding the mercy rule and forcing the Cubans to beat up on them for the entire nine innings. South African starting pitcher Barry Armitage threw out two Cuban bases runners through the first two innings possibly exposing a weakness in an otherwise iron clad Cuban squad. Final Score Cuban 8 - South Africa 1 The second game in Pool B action will go this evening (6pm est) when sexy longshot Mexico takes on an Australian squad that will be looking to avoid becoming the second Pool B outsider to be crushed by a team from the South-West hemisphere in less then twelve hours.
