CSK vs KKR Live Score IPL 2011
Chennai Super Kings vs Kolkata Knight Riders IPL Live Score 2011
After weeks of grueling battles for cricket's biggest honour, teammates will now be on opposite sides for the next 51 days to fight for the Indian Premier League. Chennai Super Kings, the defending champions, take on the tournament's perennial under performers, Kolkata Knight Riders in the inaugural game of IPL IV. MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina, Yusuf Pathan and Gautam Gambhir, part of the World Cup winning Indian side now find themselves pitted against each other in the tournament opener.
Manoj TiwariI was asked to open the innings [in 2010] which I was not accustomed to doing, but I thoroughly enjoyed the challenge. It [opening the batting this season] depends on the role assigned to me by the team management.
The two teams cannot have been more different with Chennai being one of the tournament's most consistent performers, having made the last 4 on all three occasions while lifting the trophy once, KKR on the other hand have failed to live up to the expectations after a brilliant opening on the first day of IPL 1.
Players to watch out for:
R Ashwin - Ashwin burst onto the scene in IPL and is renowned for tight bowling under pressure, but the youngster has always had Murali for support and advice. Now that Murali has been snapped up by Kochi, Ashwin finds himself with an unfamiliar role - their team's premier bowler. Will the pressure get to him, or will his cool head overcome this as well remains to be seen.
Jacques Kallis - The burly South African all-rounder will have to play a key role if KKR are to erase memories of their previous disasters. With the team missing out on a few key players due to the Australia - Bangladesh series, Kallis will provide Gambhir with the extra option with the ball while also batting like only he can.
Lalit ModiSad to see the way the opening ceremony was conducted. Well I am sure the Games will be better. So let's hope they will ovecome the start.
Less than a week after he guided India to the World Cup title, MS Dhoni was at the toss for the start of another high-profile tournament. After a Bollywood-filled opening ceremony bookended by loads of fireworks, Dhoni called right and chose to bat at the MA Chidambaram stadium. He's had so little time with his new team-mates that he carried a list of his side's XI to the toss.
Dhoni at least had it easy since Chennai Super Kings have retained the core of the team from the first three seasons. Gautam Gambhir had only a couple of days to spend with his new team-mates in Kolkata Knight Riders, and all he said about the team composition at the toss was that they had three spinners and only two overseas players. With Brett Lee, Brad Haddin and Shakib Al Hasan busy on international duty, Kolkata's foreign contingent is tiny.
Kolkata's batting line-up looks healthy but their bowling attack is pretty weak. Chennai's batsmen ran up massive scores last season, and today might well be a repeat, something which the fans packing the stadium wouldn't mind.
Gautam GambhirThe World Cup is history for me. MS and me did what we had to do there, now it's a different tournament and the requirements are completely different...No notes have been exchanged between us about captaincy or anything. As far as I am concerned, it's all about doing it for KKR and the people of Kolkata
