James DeGale has won he Gold for Brtain's Boxing Team in Middleweight, but not after some controversy after he claimed boxing rival Cuban Emilio Correa bit him.  DeGale accused the Cubans of "disrespect".

JAMES DeGALE slammed fans for booing the British national anthem and traded verbal blows with Cuba’s Emilio Correa after claiming middleweight gold.DeGale said the pro-Cuba crowd in Beijing had shown “disrespect” during the medal ceremony and showed a mark on his chest which he said was a bite.“That’s disrespect. I don’t know where they’re going with that,” said DeGale.“But listen, I’ve got the gold medal, I made history.Correa denied biting DeGale after the first-round incident which cost him two points -- the eventual margin of victory.

“He came in and he hit my teeth,” Correa said, challenging DeGale to show the bite mark. The Briton then pulled down his top to reveal a red mark.“He got me in a little hold and just bit my chest,” added the Brit. “Them gold teeth were shining through the gumshield.“He knows he bit me but it’s okay, it’s cool.“Cubans are just mad,” shrugged DeGale. “They love boxing.”

It was perhaps the ugliest Olympic boxing match I've ever seen. I'm told there are a limited number of times the competitors can be warned over holding, but they seemed to have extra lives or something.

Solid, sourced and interesting. The Cubans are not making a good show of it.

Thanks, SquidLord!  I was watching it on EUROSPORT and even the commentators were saying the Cubans have "changed".

Christina 123, I like this story. It's good stuff.

May be it's because Fidel isn't their any more as their big, big leader. I guess, they miss him.
