Cubs Fans Sell Loyalty on eBay
A frustrated Chicago Cubs supporter has tried to sell his fan loyalty on eBay. After the Cubs were eliminated from this year's playoffs by the LA Dodgers, Scot Moore decided he had enough of the team's century-long championship drought and offered to switch allegiances to the highest bidder.
"In the interest of sparing my emotions from one more gut-wrenching season," the 30-year-old Minneapolis resident wrote on eBay after Thursday's Game 2 flameout against the Los Angeles Dodgers, "I am auctioning off my loyalty to the Chicago Cubs."
Moore grew up in Wheaton and has been a Cubs fan for as long as he remembers — long before he logged on to the online auction site Friday as "lenina4sammy" and made his long-suffering Cubs devotion a liquid commodity.
Moore's bid does not currently appear on the auction site, but there are two other fans who are auctioning themselves. You can view there auctions here and here.

I don't get it. So you are basically paying him to become a fan of your favourite team? Thats ridiculous. Also ridiculously smart in a making money point of view.

My pic was taken after a Cubs game I went to last year against St Louis.
As a lifelong Red Sox fan I have an appreciation for the Cubs history. Seems pretty ridiculous to try and sell fan allegiance, but I guess people will do anything to make money in this economy.

I visited Chicago the night the Cubs lost it all. I've never seen a city so sad.

Beautiful day in Wrigleyville lends itself to my 'Looking Up' project. Check it out at chrisgurley.com.

I know this guy--he's not keeping the money for himself. He is trying to raise money for a couple of non-profit theatres. He isn't keeping a penny, it all goes straight through an arts funding group.

This picture was taken on June 1, 2007, when the Atlanta Braves visited Wrigley Field. It was also the day of the infamous Michael Barrett/Carlos Zambrano fight in the dugout during the middle of the fifth inning that got Barrett exiled to San Diego. It wasn't obvious there had been a fight until after the game was over, when I heard about it on the news - over and over again. The Braves won the game, 8-5.
