NP Rank:
Curt Schilling For Senate? Does He Want Ted Kennedy's Old Seat?
Pitcher Curt Schilling is reportedly interested in running for Ted Kennedy's old Senate seat. The future Hall-of-Famer, who was a key part of the Red Sox 2004 World Series championship, told a New England media outlet that he has been contacted by the Republican party about running for Senate.
Curt Schilling also wrote about the possibility of running for Senate on his blog, 38 Pitches.
While my family is obviously the priority, and 38 Studios is a priority, I do have some interest in the possibility. That being said, to get to there from where I am today, many many things would have to align themselves for that to truly happen. I am not going to comment further on the matter since at this point it would be speculation on top of speculation.
My hope is that whatever happens, and whomever it happens to, this state makes the decision and chooses the best person, regardless of sex, race, religion or political affiliation, to help get this state back to the place it deserves to be.
Schilling is a well-known Republican, who has campaigned on behalf of George W. Bush and John McCain during their presidential bids.
Republicans in Massachusetts will no doubt be thrilled to have Curt Schilling in their corner. Schilling remains popular in New England, thanks in large part to his brave performance during the 2004 World Series. Schilling's popularity may be enough to break the Democrats popularity in the state. The Dems have held the Massachusetts Senate seat since 1952.
