Cleveland Owner Dan Gilbert Slams LeBron James in Cleveland Plain Dealer

Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert is not taking LeBron James' move to the Miami Heat very well. He wrote an open letter to Cavs fans in the Cleveland Plain Dealer, calling LeBron's press-conference marathon "narcissistic" and "self-promotional", which is more fact than opinion, if we're all honest about it. After all, how is Paul the Octopus supposed to get any additional sports-network coverage if King James is taking it all?

Gilbert: Lebron Betrayed His Hometown

At any rate, Dan Gilbert promises that he and the rest of the Cavaliers staff will never, ever, ever betray their fans as LeBron "Benedict Arnold" James did. The letter, which you can see in its entirety via the links below, is really personal, which is no doubt how Cavs fans are also taking it: LeBron was Cleveland- born and Cleveland-raised, and now he's moving on, abandoning the people who helped him get to the position where he could command the entire sports press' attention.

You simply don't deserve this kind of cowardly betrayal.

You have given so much and deserve so much more.

In the meantime, I want to make one statement to you tonight: "I personally guarantee that the Cleveland Cavaliers will win an NBA Championship before the self-titled former 'king' wins one."

Gilbert then goes on to shift the Curse of the Cavs directly onto LeBron's shoulders, saying that, now with the NBA's biggest star out of the way, the Cavs are clear to advance... stepping over the Heat as they do so.

But the good news is that this heartless and callous action can only serve as the antidote to the so-called "curse" on Cleveland, Ohio.

The self-declared former "King" will be taking the "curse" with him down south. And until he does "right" by Cleveland and Ohio, James (and the town where he plays) will unfortunately own this dreaded spell and bad karma.

"Psycho Ex-Girlfriend"

The Milwaukee Journal is calling it the "psycho ex-girlfriend letter". In case you were wondering if Gilbert should have counted to ten before clicking "submit"... apparently that letter was the nice version.
