Soccer superstar David Beckham will return to Los Angeles at the end of his three-month "loan period" to Italy, despite his stated wish to play for AC Milan.

The Italian side's bid did not have enough zeroes after the one.

Beckham told the Galaxy he wanted to stay with the Italian club, which made an initial offer that was rejected by the Major League Soccer team. Major League Soccer Commissioner Don Garber set yesterday’s deadline to complete a potential transfer.

"I know David is emotionally invested, but I don't think Milan really was that interested in spending the money we would have had to receive to compensate us for our losses," Leiweke said.

"We need David to honor the contract and come home and let's stop the distraction."

AC Milan's initial bid was around 5 million euros, reportedly boosted to over 11 million.  The Galaxy is apparently seeing Beckham as a long-term investment, as the former Man U star hasn't actually played that much since his move to the left coast.

It does make sense for Beckham to move to Milan to prolong his international career.

LA Galaxy have done well out of the deal, selling shirts by the bucket load, and MIL have had massive global exposure. So in all everyone has gone well out of it and maybe it's time to part ways and allow the MIL to move on without Brand Beckham.

They should let him out of his contract.
