Reserve Texas Tech defensive back DeShon Sanders was arrested early Thursday morning and charged with felony possession with intent to distribute in excess of 50 grams of cocaine.
According to the indictment obtained Thursday by The Dallas Morning News, Sanders did "unlawfully, knowingly and intentionally combine, conspire, confederate and agree with other persons whose names are known and unknown to the grand jury to commit" the offenses. The "50 grams and more" that were allegedly to be distributed by Sanders, according to the indictment, was "a mixture and substance containing a detectable amount of cocaine base."
Sanders is being held in Lubbock County jail. If convicted, Sanders could face a minimum of 10 years in prison. The 22-year-old junior has appeared in all 12 games for the Red Raiders this season.
