Diamondbacks Fan Catches Foul Ball, Gives It To Crying Kid-Video
A Young Arizona Diamondbacks Fan Got a Ball From and Gave It To a Young Brewers Fan on July 21, 2011. Here is the Video
It seems like the 2011 MLB season has featured more foul ball incidents, some light-hearted, some tragic.
During the July 21, 2011 game between the Arizona Diamondbacks and Milwaukee Brewers, a ball thrown into the crowd turned into a scene that some found heartwarming. After the end of an inning, Rickie Weeks of the Brewers threw a ball to a young fan in the stands.
The butterfingered boy failed to catch the ball only to have older kids get the ball from a crew member. The older walked off with the ball as the younger kid looks on heartbroken. When the older kid sees the younger kid crying, he walks over and hands him the ball.
The TV crew that saw the incident was so impressed, they rewarded the older kid that they gave him tickets to another game, and an autographed Justin Upton bat. It was a sweet gesture, but at least one blogger notes that the incident may not be all positive.
Sure, I feel bad for him, but suck it up and move on, boy. Learn from your mistakes and become a better man. Instead, he’s now under the impression that crying will achieve results. Welcome to the modern metaphor, friends.
UPDATE: The two boys involved, Ian McMillan and Nicholas Goodfellow appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Aug. 3, 2011.

To the person who is "quoted"....talk about heartless. A child is allowed to express emotions. For someone to say to a child "suck it up", seriously! That is very upsetting. I am very impressed that the older boy gave the ball back. He stated on the news that his parents taught him to be that way. I think it is very honorable. Maybe we should keep our mouth shut when talking badly about children and telling them to "suck it up".

Agreed with Melissa B. Well said. Good to see a kid doing something so nice for someone else expecting nothing in return for it. Makes you smile.
