According to the Miami Herald Wright was driving at around 3:37am at12th Street and Alton Road when police stopped him for speeding and swerving across the road. A police officer told NBC that Wright was swerving in to another lane in his 2005 two-door white Bentley. He was also going 52 mph in a 35 mph zone and almost hit a taxi when he changed lanes and did not single.

In the police report, it states that when the police approached the vehicle after they stopped him, they noticed that Wright was slurring his speech, he smelled of alcohol and he had red eyes. He did not consent to a sobriety test however, and he was driving on a suspended license with no proof of insurance. He was arrested on the spot.
