Oklahoma City Thunder’s leader Kevin Durant left Wednesday night’s game with a sprained ankle after becoming tangled with Indian Pacer’s power-forward Tyler Hansbrough. After the 3rd quarter collision, Durant shot his two free throws and was promptly escorted off the court by trainers.
The Thunder is claiming the ankle to be a sprain, while Durant, complete with a boot on the injured left ankle, is calling it a “tweak.”
Durant is the NBA’s current leading scorer and the newest Nike/EA Sports poster boy for a
recently released shoe and losing him for any duration of time could significantly dwindle the Thunder’s post-season hopes.
The Thunder are set to take on the Denver Nuggets April 5 at the Pepsi Center, a time when both teams will be tightening their belts and making their run for the playoffs. The
Nuggets and the Thunder met earlier in the season resulting in a Nuggets win, 107-112.
ESPN reports that Durant did not practice today and is doubtful for play on Friday versus the Atlanta Hawks.
Though, without Durant, his 26 minutes and 21 points were still enough to coast past the Pacers, 113-89.
