The Netherland's women beat the Finns by 1.29 secs to clinch the gold in the women's light weight double sculls.

Dutch pair Kirsten van der Kolk and Marit van Eupen won the women's lightweight double sculls gold at the Beijing Olympic Games on Sunday.

Slight pre-race favourites, van der Kolk and van Eupen started conservatively but timed their charge to perfection over the final 500m to win by 1.29sec from Finland in a time of 6:54.74.

Finns Sanna Sten and Minna Nieminen had to settle for silver again, just as they did at last year's world championships.

Thanks, Milieunet!  Presumably you'll be going "clip-clippety-clop on the stairs" in your Dutch clogs...?
