The nephew of NFL quarterback Brett Favre is starting to garner attention as one of the best high school quarterbacks in the US.

Dylan Favre recently set a Mississippi state record by throwing 43 touchdown passes this season. Over the last two seasons, he has thrown for more than 6,000 yards and 74 touchdowns. He is also a two-way player, lining up at free safety on the defensive side of the ball.

Favre, whose MySpace page can be seen here, has received some attention from Division I schools, including Ole Miss, Southern Miss, UCLA and Notre Dame.

Not surprisingly, Favre is earning comparisons to his uncle.

Much like his uncle, Favre is the type of player who can hurt an opponent with either his arm or his legs. And he also has tremendous improvisational skills. In last week's 42-27 first-round Class 4A playoff loss to Brookhaven, Favre passed for two touchdowns (giving him 45 for the season and 81 for his career) and ran for another - his eighth rushing score in 2008.

"He's athletic, and he's a competitor," Rivals.com Southeast Recruiting Analyst Barton Simmons said. "You can see a lot of his uncle in him in the way he improvises and the confidence he has in his arm."
