We pulled over when we saw a huge crowd gathered around a large telescope. Turns out Jerry, an astronomer, had set it up so people could watch this couple climbing the nose of El Capitan. We ended up staying for the rest of the day.
Hanging out in the meadow was, for me, the quintessential Yosemite experience. There were photographers, hikers, and just random people chatting with each other. Everyone was friendly, willing to share information, and eager to learn.
