 MUSSOORIE, 29 June:
Preparations in Rock Craft and a pre-conditioning course held before climbing Momstang Kangri  Peak (7526 M) in Siachin by the Corps of EME concluded at Hathipaon near George Everest Estate, here, today. As many as 18 Jawans, one JCO and one Major participated in the 12 day training camp, in which the Jawans refreshed the basic and advanced techniques learned, earlier, and trained in rock craft, which included search and rescue, rappelling, etc. According to Major Vishal Ahlawat of EME, this exercise is a part of reunion celebrations of the Corps to be held in Janurary 2010. The second course will be held for snow craft. The expedition will be flagged of from New Delhi on 6 July by Lt General of the EME, AK Chandel. Major Ahlawat said that such adventure activities would also assist in attracting more youth towards the Indian Army. He further said that apart from this, there would be other adventure activities like rafting, hot air ballooning, etc., to celebrate the reunion of the corps. A large number of widows of the Corps will also be honoured on the day. The reunion of the Corps is held once every four years. Nayak Naresh Dimri said that the jawans had learned a lot from this course and it would assist them in the expedition to the Peak, later.
