Endy Chavez Collision: Injury Has Mariner Out for the Season
Seattle Mariners outfielder Endy Chavez was injured after colliding into teammate Yuniesky Betancourt during the Mariner's 4-3 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks Friday night. The Endy Chavez collision occurred after the players both tried to field a routine pop-up by Diamondbacks DH Felipe Lopez.
The two fielders collided and Betancourt, remarkably, made the catch.
Sadly, Chavez didn't fare so well. The Mariners have reported that Endy Chavez will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury. Team physician Dr. Edward Khalfayan said that the Endy Chavez injury consists of damage to both his anterior cruciate ligament and medial collateral ligament. It could take him anywhere from nine months to a year to fully recover.
Here is the Endy Chavez Injury video.
