England Vs New Zealand 3rd Test at Napier 2008 Review of Day 1 and Day 2 Plus Highlights

Test match with only 2 days over and went into third innings shows us all how exciting and thrilling this match is .Such excitment is same as we see in ODIs or Twenty20 matches only and its rearly been seen test matches.But in Napier Test its happening and made this weekend excited for us.A pitch which was expected to help batsmen had turn out to be bowlers heaven. With Tim Southee after taking 5 wickets in his debut test was star of day 1 but the second day was more memorable for England especially Sidebottom who took 7 wickets for 47 which making this spell a memorable one.Lets us review Day 1 and day 2 play in short.

Day 1 Review: 

With pitch looking like batting track,England without any hesitation took batting as their choice .But this decision soon became worst nightmare for them as they lost 4 wickets for just 36 runs. Tim Southee  Star of under-19 Word Cup this year,Continued same performance in this test and showed the world that a New weapon is there in New Zealand Team.But after losing 4 quick wickets Collingwood and Peterson put a good show patience and played steady and added 89 runs to do recovery work back.But as everything was looking good for England Collingwood gave his wicket and again England was in trouble and was struggling  with 140 for 6 as TR Ambrose too gave his wicket.But Peterson with Stuart Broad didnt gave hope and made superb 100 . But wasnt able to keep attack of New Zealand bowlers away and lost his important wicket at end of day 1 or 129 runs.England finished Day 1 for 240 for 7 with Stuart Broad and Panesar playing.

Day 2 Review: 

Day 2 start for England was horrible as they lost their all 3 wickets for just 13 and England Inning  finished for just 253 runs.With such superb performance by Bowlers ,New Zealand batsmen were pretty much excited but their start was not good as they lost their first wicket in first Over as Bell didnt able to open his account. But after this Flemming and How had glorious partnership of more than 100 runs and it was looking that New Zealand will be getting a good lead but God has different wish. After Flemming got out,New Zealand inning started to shake, Sidebottom looked like a cyclone or torando which just crushed New Zealand inning . New Zealand after such destructive blows manage to make only 168 runs. Sidebottom took 7 wickets for 47 runs which is his career best and also giving good answer to all of them who questioned young blood preference over experience. England after getting a lead of about 85 runs started their second inning. Vaughan failed again and was out for 4 runs giving a good blow to England good lead but after his departure Strauss and Cook played sensibly and ended day 1 only losing 2 wickets for 91 runs .Making a lead of 176 runs.

Day 3 Preview: 

It will be exciting to see how Day 3 will go .In my opinion it might decide the fate of this exciting test.
